2017 Mazda CX-4 Specs

Below we have summarized some of the reviews about the features of the car exterior and interior 2017 Mazda CX-4. The car is expected to be a comfortable car for the ride by the community.

According to the spy shots of the cabin, the interior is not as fancy as that of the Koeru concept. It looks much more like the one on the CX-5.  However, the cabin features a good deal of premium features such as leather upholstery with contrast stitching, aluminum inserts among others. It features a similar center stack design as the CX-5 and an infotainment system mounted above its rectangular-shaped A/C vents.

The audio system is capable of receiving terrestrial AM/FM broadcasts and also supports audio playback from CDs, the customer’s mobile audio players, and playback via Bluetooth®. In addition, when connected via Wi-Fi, they can also use QQ Music or other popular Chinese music apps.

The teaser image released by the automaker doesn’t reveal its clear design; however, from our spy shots, we can see a lot of resemblance with the Koeru concept. The automaker took the Koeru design features and tweaked it to more production-friendly designs. The crossover features the similar KODO-styled front. It features a huge, shield-shaped grille and a sculpted hood. Its grille features a chrome surround which extends to the thin, swept-back LED headlamps and LED DRLs. It also features boomerang-shaped fog lights which are integrated with the bumper.

The CX-4 offers a choice of 19-inch or 17-inch aluminum wheels. Spokes extend from the center to the rims in dynamic fashion. Their three-dimensional design and advanced looking surface finish create an exterior appearance that befits this whole new genre of car.

The interior design aims to deliver a rich, modern environment that will create a solid bond between the driver and car throughout the various scenes the customer experiences in daily life. A unique atmosphere greets the customer the instant they open the door. Attention to the shape, material and feeling of every detail is aimed at creating forms that speak of high quality and elegance. The result is a relaxing cabin environment with a pleasing sense of tension that brings a burst of energy to the driver’s spirit.

The large diameter 19-inch wheels create a sporty and tough, yet sophisticated look that suits a crossover SUV. A newly developed light gunmetal gray paint applied to the twisted face of the spokes and machining where they are joined to the rim give the wheels a quality look of solid metal. The 17-inch wheels feature a side view reminiscent of an elegant coupe. The spokes dip in deeply near the center of the wheel create three-dimensional depth and surface that catches light and shadow in a way that leaves a strong impression that belies their smaller size.

The interior environment is divided into a cockpit zone that wraps snugly around the driver to create an intimate bond with the car and a passenger zone that delivers a feeling of openness and relaxation. The cockpit zone employs Mazda’s intelligent Human-Machine Interface (HMI) that enables the driver to concentrate on the road ahead at all times, and makes driving safer and more fun. Peaking at the meter hood, the cockpit wraps snugly around the driver with all major controls laid out in perfect symmetry to keep the driver’s body straight and centered while driving. This helps the driver feel physically at one with the car. On the passenger side, the shape of the decorative panel and upper section of the instrument panel were carefully designed to spread out horizontally and express a feeling of breadth. This instills a sense of stability and reassurance that also gives the passenger a feeling of openness with a clear view out the windshield. On the whole, carefully selected materials and manufacturing processes for the interior provide occupants with a level of true quality that appeals to all five senses.

2017 Mazda CX-4 Engine

As of this writing, Mazda had not disclosed engine details of the 2017 Mazda CX-4.  However, according to rumors, the CX-4 will be powered by the same drive-trains that power the CX-5.  The base engine will be a 2.0 L SkyActiv mill which puts up 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque.  The more powerful gasoline engine will be a 2.5 L SkyActiv engine good for 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.

Under the hood, two four-cylinder engines will be offered, a 2.0-liter I-4 and a 2.5-liter, both of which are part of Mazda’s Skyactiv-G family. In the U.S., the 2.0-liter is rated between 146 to 155 hp and 146 to 150 lb-ft of torque depending on the application. The larger 2.5-liter, which is used in the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5, produces 184 hp and 185 lb-ft. A six-speed manual will be available on the CX-4 exclusively with the 2.0-liter while the 2.5-liter is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic. Models equipped with the smaller engine come standard with 17-inch alloy wheels. Upgrading to the 2.5-liter adds 19-inch alloys as standard.

A diesel engine will also be offered in some markets. The diesel engine has a displacement of 2.2 liters and produces 147 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine will also be tweaked to produce more power (173 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque).

As expected, the CX-4 received the exact same engines as the CX-5. There is no specific information on output, but the latter comes with a 2.0-liter SkyActiv unit rated at 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque in entry-level guise and a more powerful 2.5-liter SkyActiv with 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of twist in range-topping trim. Chances are the CX-4 will hit dealerships in the same specifications. Should the crossover go global, certain markets will also get the 2.2-liter diesel with 147 horsepower and 280 pound-feet or 173 horses and 310 pound-feet. Mazda did confirm that transmission choices include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic, and that the version with the 2.5-liter engine will also feature all-wheel drive.
