2018 Genesis G80 Release Date

For 2018, Genesis has revised the whole G80 lineup with a few small tweaks to interior and exterior design, but the real news is the new G80 Sport trim. The new model offers a significantly different looking, and probably different feeling, car. The changes start outside with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, as well as new sideskirts. The front bumper has sprouted a pair of vents between the upper and lower grille, along with larger side grilles. The rear bumper gets a faux diffuser and dual exhaust tips on each side. The look is accented by dark chrome and copper-colored trim, as well as exclusive 19-inch wheels.

The 2018 Genesis G80 will carry the extravagant badges of the company for at least a decade. Most of the people do not understand the essence of this brand. The logo signifies the hard work and endeavor of the architects.

For the 2018 G80, the Hyundai added few great things. First of all and the most important thing are minor tweaks that this model receives. The second thing is nothing less good, and that is the introduction of the newly Sports model. The previous G80 was great, but we must admit that the newly one will be even better and it will provide even more great features, better engine as well as improved fuel consumption. Before Genesis the brand, there was Genesis the Hyundai model, which was stripped of its Hyundai badging and rechristened the G80. The badge swap was more or less the extent of the changes during the 2016 Genesis sedan’s transition to the 2017 G80 well, that and a price bump and an increase in standard safety tech. For the 2018 model year, Genesis finally tweaks the G80 and adds an intriguing Sport model.

2018 Genesis G80 Release Date

Hyundai’s new Genesis brand will gain another entry for the 2018 model year, with the Korean automaker’s luxury division debuting the G80 Sport at the LA Auto Show this week. The G80 itself is a rebadged version of the outgoing (and excellent) Hyundai Genesis and occupies a rung below the Equus-derived G90.

2018 Genesis G80 Specs

Below we have summarized some of the reviews about the features of the car exterior and interior 2018 Genesis G80. The car is expected to be a comfortable car for the ride by the community.

Lesser or otherwise, the G80 Sport will be generously equipped when it goes on sale in spring 2017. Standard equipment includes sport seats with copper-hued stitching, carbon-fiber dashboard trim, aluminum pedals, adaptive LED headlights, a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system, a Qi wireless smartphone-charging pad, and the largest of the G80’s available dashboard displays, a 9.2-inch unit. Buyers can choose between black or gray interior color schemes as well as two Sport-exclusive colors, Polar Ice and Sevilla Red, that stand out among the regular G80’s array of mostly muted paint colors. Genesis will also offer Casablanca White, Caspian Black, and Himalayan Gray hues for the less adventurous.

So, as we say, we can expect some minor tweaks and we can start from the front fascia of this vehicle. Everything from the front side provides a high dose of aggressiveness starting from the remarkable front grille with the logo above as well as with a lot of chrome details on it. Also, the headlights will be slightly redesigned and it will receive the brand new LED technology. The G80 Sport has some special details like dark chrome grille, lower fascia designs and port rocker moldings.

Only G80 superfans will pick up on the new T-shaped shift knob and the instrument cluster that trades digital coolant-temperature and fuel-level readouts for analog gauges. Genesis said it also improved the G80’s interior noise, vibration, and harshness levels, although the G80 already excelled in this area.

The fog lights are so distinctive and here we can expect the same LED technology, but G80 Sport doesn’t have it. When it comes to the profile side, this model will most likely add the new wheels. The word is about the 18-inch(tires are P245/45R18) wheels made from aluminum and for Sports 19-inch dark alloy wheels plus additional dark satin. The aluminum is also used in the chassis construction, and maybe we can expect even the carbon fiber. Thanks to the lightweight materials, this model will have better overall performance compared to the previous one. 2018 G80 Exterior dimensions: Length: 196.5 in. Width: 74.4 in. Wheelbase: 118.5 in. Height: 58.3 in.

2018 Genesis G80

2018 Genesis G80 Engine

Under the hood is the turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 that’s out of the G90 sedan, a fantastic honey of an engine that packs the feel of a big, smooth V-8 into the size and fuel economy of a V-6. If it’s as good in the G80 3.3T Sport as it is in the big G90, it’s going to be a ton of fun.

The aggressive exterior hints at the new mechanical bits underneath. Under the hood, the Sport gets the twin turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 from the G90 flagship sedan. As in the G90, the V6 makes 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, with the latter available anywhere between 1,300 and 4,500 rpm. It should certainly be an enjoyable engine with so much low-end torque, but it is interesting that Genesis would introduce the trim with a less-powerful engine than the 5.0-liter V8, which is available on other G80 trim levels. The V8 makes 420 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. Perhaps Hyundai doesn’t want to create a range-topping sporty model just to have a more impressive N model steal its thunder.

Yet the optics of rolling the former Hyundai Genesis into the G80 could have been strengthened by a few extra touches like those administered to this 2018 G80. If you look closely enough and have a photo of a 2017 model handy you might notice that the front bumper has been subtly reshaped around the intakes and the lower valance area, while the grille and the rear bumper see similarly limited reconstructive work. There are also new 18-inch wheels for the entry-level G80 3.8 model. The G80’s base 3.8-liter V-6 and optional 5.0-liter V-8, as well as the rest of its mechanicals, go untouched.

In the smaller G80, the 3.3T has the potential to outgun the range-topping 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The turbo V-6 serves up 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque (55 horsepower and 7 lb-ft less than the V-8), but if the G80 Sport’s mass falls closer to that of the lighter, 311-hp G80 3.8 than the G80 5.0, it could be quicker than both, particularly if optioned with the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system that is also offered with the other two engines.

New for 2018 is a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 making a respectable 365 horsepower and 376 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a sport-tuned 8-speed automatic and either rear- or all-wheel drive. The G80 Sport also gets a new continuously-controlled damping system that Genesis claims will improve handling and ride quality over the standard Genesis.
